About Us

After many years of wishing and talking about it to many singers in the Timmins area, the Group was started in 2005 by Ginette Mongeon. The goal was to provide another outlet for adult singers in Timmins to get together and share music in and with the community.

The Northern Harmony Singers is dedicated to musical excellence. The objectives of the choir are to:

  • Cultivate skills in choral singing
  • Provide opportunities for self expression
  • Build bridges of understanding among diverse communities through music
  • Provide positive social support for its members

The Group is an unconducted choir which strives to pay careful and precise attention to musical nuance and where each individual plays an important role in the achievement of overall group dynamic.

In addition to its own vocal presentation, the Group is an advocate for showcasing local talent, including youth singers, dancers and musicians.

Incorporating choreography, storytelling and humour, the Northern Harmony Singers has built a reputation as a premier show choir in the Timmins area.

Annual Concert

The Group performs one major concert per year on the last weekend of January. The musical repertoire is varied and includes but is not limited to pop, classical, folk and Broadway/show. In keeping with the multicultural history and heritage of Timmins, we include French repertoire in every concert and adds pieces in other languages as often as possible.

Other performances

In addition to the annual concert, the Group performs at other events and functions throughout the community. The Group has been a popular act at the Timmins Summer Concert Series, has participated in local telethons and music festivals, has performed at various meetings and conferences and is a regular visitor at local seniors' residences.
